strange ati radeon x700 agp 8x

i have an Ati Radeon X700 AGP 8x 256mb, when i try to install vista beta 2, appear on the monitor the loading files message..but after that the monitor becomes black and the power-on lights of it starts flashing
when i have tried i have thought that is a problem of the drivers.
fortunatly i have oneother graphic card, an ATI Radeon 9550 agp 8x, and with this one vista starts regularly and i have installed it with this one.
but i prefere to use the X700 than the 9550...so i have tried to install the ATI catalyst driver for windows vista and to plug the x700 instead of 9550...
but it gives the same problems..
when windows starts the monitor becomes black. but if i try to enter in safe-mode it works perfectly!!!
i have tried to reinstall the card from the safe-mode and, i don't know why, it has worked for some restart, but now it always gives black screen

I have this same card, in fact I just bought it last week to enable glass. I actually installed Vista Beta 2 using my Matrox Parhelia but it wouldn't do glass. I deleted the Matrox and shut down, installed the ATI Radeon x700 AGP 8x, Vista found it right away, I didn't install any drivers at that point. Later on I installed the ATI drivers but not Catalyst, and then still later I installed Catalyst. This was using a Mitsubishi 22" Diamond Pro CRT, today I added a 17" LG Flatron LCD as a second monitor and everything works well. All this is just to let you know that the x700 will work on Vista.
